My mother first had a creche when I was a little girl in Cape Town.That was some 40 years ago, and has seen both my aunt and sister operating successful ECD (Early Childhood Development Centres) as well. Today My mom has retired and both my sister and I run successfull ECD centres in the Blouberg area of the Western Cape.
Our school was established some 8 Years ago in the Tableview area out of rented premises and although we bought the business, at the time of the purchase had about 18 children. We worked really hard during those early days at establishing a name for ourselves .We also made a vow back then that because we were given this opportunity, we would help people where we could should they not be as fortunate as us. This value still stands true today and I can say that my Husband Frank and I have been instrumental in giving at least some children a fighting chance at a better education than most.
From these humble beginnings , it was three years later where by chance on a Sunday afternoon drive where we we visiting show houses , we met and agent who enquired as to what we do , which we replied that we were in the creche business and he replied that he had some property that was available as a development site for a creche. Well you can imagine our excitement.We jumped at the opportunity and 5 days later had a signed deal for property that we were going to develop into a creche. 8 months later on April 1st 2006 our dream was born and we moved into our new premises with our now growing business of 60 children.It was an exciting time for everyone including parents .It was here that Wonderland Educare as we know it was born and a business that was going to change our lives and touch all of those around us.
It has now been 4 years since the move into our new premises and the school continues to grow with 130 children and 13 full time staff members. The saying that you "reap what you sow" is so true and we see this in our business. We have tried to ensure that we treat everyone fairly and honestly including staff.
Our School operates at 11 Marlborough Way in Parklands Cape Town , South Africa. We pride ourselves on our high standard of education and hygene and employ a principal of equality in the workplace where all our staff are a part of our extended family.
